Recipe Quick Apple Pie Tray Bake low-carb gluten-free
Tray bake with rich almond dough and apple topping with caramel dream! Just 140 kcal per piece and 6g net carbs.
For the dough
- 200 g Dr. Almond Almond Dough CLASSIC
- 3 eggs medium
- 100 g butter ((melted))
- 150 g water
For the topping
- 750 g apples
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 50 g Dr. Almond Caramel Dream
- 20 g butter
- 25 g Dr. Almond Low-Carb Jam Fix ((can be varied as you wish))
- some cinnamon (depending on your taste)
- 1 tbsp Dr. Almond Erythritol Powder ((optional))
Preparing the dough
- Mix baking mix with eggs, melted butter and water to make a smooth dough.
- Line a baking dish with baking paper (2 round 26-cm dishes or 1 large baking tray) and roll out the dough. TIP: The dough can be formed and flattened best with your hands.
Preparing the filling
- Cut the apples into thin slices.
- Heat up lemon juice, caramel dream and butter, mix with apple slices and leave to infuse for about 15 minutes – the apples will release moisture.
- Pour off the liquid from the apple mix and measure the quantity (e.g. 75g liquid). Mix 1/3 of the measured quantity (here e.g. 25g) with the jam fix and heat up briefly while stirring.
- Layer apple slices evenly on the dough like tiles on a roof and cover with jam fix mixture.
- Bake in preheated oven at 175° C (fan) for about 40 minutes. Extend baking time by about 10 minutes when using upper and lower heat.
- Optional: Dust with icing sugar and cinnamon when still hot.
